The Pacific and Asian Affairs Council (PAAC) received a grant of $60,000 over three years from the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation. The grant will allow PAAC to expand its After-School Class Initiative to all of the public high schools on the windward side of Oahu (Castle, Kailua, Kahuku, and Kalaheo High Schools). PAAC is a private, non-profit organization that seeks to promote increased awareness of international affairs and U.S. foreign policy, with special emphasis on Asia and the Pacific. PAAC has been serving public and private high schools statewide since 1954 through a network of clubs, after-school classes and conferences. The After-School Class Initiative is part of PAAC’s global education outreach program. PAAC and the Radford High School International Learning Center offer for-credit classes after school called “Upload the World: Global Studies and Media Literacy.” For questions, please contact Adria Estribou, High School Program Director, by phone at 944-7783 or by email at hs@paachawaii.org. |
