For the second year, Friends of Hawaii Charities has given the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council (PAAC) $5,000 to fund an after-school class at Wai’anae High School.

The After-School Class Initiative is part of PAAC’s global education outreach program to high schools statewide. PAAC and the Radford High School International Learning Center offer for-credit classes after school called “Upload the World: Global Studies and Media Literacy.”

PAAC is a private, non-profit organization that seeks to promote increased awareness of international affairs and U.S. foreign policy, with special emphasis on Asia and the Pacific.

The Friends of Hawaii Charities is the event host of the Sony Open in Hawaii, and through a partnership with The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Inc., has given more than $3 million to Hawaii charities since 1999.
