FORMAT AND REQUIREMENTS

USE THE FOLLOWING HEADINGS FOR ALL ASSIGNMENTS:

DETERMINATION OF GRADES:

Quality of work: Has the work addressed the task as instructed? Has the work been spell-checked? Does the work reveal creativity? Does the student use complete sentences?

Content of work: How thoroughly does the work address the task? Minimally, completely, beyond what was required? Does the student make distinct statements about readings or about other distinct topics?

Promptness of work: Has the work been completed before the deadline?

Consistency of work: Does the work reflect the same effort from beginning to end?

Correction of work: Has the work been rewritten to reflect recognition of errors?

Self-understanding of work: Does the work reveal an understanding within a context of individual experience? Most importantly, did the student make an effort to reflect on the course or make an effort to use the journal entry as a means to reflect about learning?

JOURNAL ASSIGNMENTS
FALL 2007

Journal 1 - Autobiography
-Introduce yourself.
- Why are you taking this course?
- Write complete sentences that identify:
1. Yourself
2. Your school
3. Your grade
4. Your interests in the world
5. Any additional charachteristics about yourself that you would like to share.
6. You may include a picture of something you are interested in.

Journal 2 - World Heriage Site
-Which of the World Heritage Sites would you like to visit? Why?
- Why do you think it is important to preserve it?

Journal 3 - Human Rights
- Which of the Human Rights do you think is the most important?
- How could Americans help in these areas? Or Describe a current human rights issue in the world today and describe some of the rights that aer being violated.
- Also, describe you solution to the problem.

Journal 4 - Biodiviersty
- In your community, what area do you think needs protection?

Journal 5 - Global Action Project
- Describe what your class is doing for their Global Action Project and how it relates to what you are learning in class.
- Does participating in the project make you feel that you can make a difference?
