Environmental
Peace/Conflict
Students look at environmental conflict and consider
the effects on the world's resources and how the United
Nations responded them.
Global Investigation of Child
Labor
Students will gain a broader prespective on child
labor and become familiar with the issues, controversies,
and debates that surround it.

Shovels: China's Urbanization and Economic Development
Since
the late 1970s, China has experienced an unprecedented
economic boom, creating the world's fastest growing
major economy. Hundreds of millions of rural Chinese
have been drawn into China's cities looking for work,
hoping for transition to a better, freer, more modern
way of life.

may vary by semester.
Requirements
All work is done in-class, there is
no homework. Your grade will be based on in-class
individual assignments, group projects and class participation.
Credit
You will
receive .5 credit in social studies for this class.
In order to get credit, you must not miss more than
3 classes during the semester. You will receive a
grade for this class, based on criteria provided at
the beginning of each assignment.
