Teacher Workshop: Explore India, Art Traditions

This hands-on teacher workshop is co-sponsored by the East-West Center Arts Program and the PAAC.  There will be content presentations; hands-on art demonstrations; relevant k12 curriculum shared; and an introduction to Bollywood dancing.

India is a country on the rise and it’s a country whose ambitions are growing. And that is pretty exciting and timely for this workshop. Some facts about fascinating India:

• Each and every 28 states and 7 union territories of India, have their own language, clothing, cuisine, and look.

• India alone has approximately 300 languages - -highest number in the world.

• In India alone you'll find all types of food ranging from sweetest to most spicy food on earth - - local food in  different states.

• On this planet, you will notice that the highest number of religions present, are in India. More than 8: Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Zoroastrianism, Buddhism.

For neighbor island teachers, roundtrip airfare and one night of lodging at the East-West Center dormitory are available—space limited.
