The
PAAC Summer Study Tour complements PAAC's long running
programs in high schools statewide. Each year, twenty
full scholarships, made possible by a generous grant
from the Freeman Foundation, provides public high
school students a life-changing opportunity to experience
international travel in Asia. Students are exposed
to different cultures and perspectives, gain first-hand
understanding of current issues affecting the country
and regions to be visited, and attain an increased
awareness of Hawaii's position as part of America,
the Pacific, and the world. Past Summer Study Tours
include: China (2004), South Korea (2005), Japan (2006),
Vietnam (2007), China & Taiwan (2008). The 2009
Summer Study Tour will take students to South Korea.
Applications for the 2009 tour to South Korea are
now available. All public and charter school students
are eligible, however, preference is given to students
who participate in PAAC activities. For
more information, contact PAAC High School Program
Director, Natasha Chappel at 944-7759 or hs@paachawaii.org.
