Testing Global Knowledge at Academic WorldQuest

302 students from 23 schools competed in the 2016 Academic WorldQuest Competition. This year, PAAC collaborated with the Pacific Model United Nations, exposing more teens to international affairs. Participants tested their international IQ in six rigorous categories: China, Combating Infectious Diseases, Current Events, Global Megacities, Great Decisions, and Women in Technology.

  

The competition was held simultaneously at the Hawaii Convention Center, Maui High, Molokai High, Kealakehe High, and Waiakea High on Saturday, November 19th. Mahalo Joel Weaver for emceeing, and to the Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation and the Stephen E. and Isabella H. World Peace Foundation for sponsoring the competition.

Congratulations to the winning team: Yu-Jin Cho, Anli Valdez, Anson Lee, and Jordan Nishina from Punahou School. Team members will represent Hawaii in the World Affairs Councils of America’s National Academic WorldQuest Competition in Washington D.C. this April.
