2023 Honda Scholarship Recipient: Sherry Jiang

Sherry is a leader at her school in many initiatives and programs. She is the Co-President of the National Honor Society, the Model United Nations, and the Co-Chair for the Civic Engagement and Policy Forum.  She is also the recipient of the Citizen Scholar Award and received the Research and Preparation Award of Excellence in 2022 for her work at the National High School Model United Nations Conference. 

 

In addition to her global leadership work, Sherry is an active member of the STEM community in Hawai‘i, receiving honors at  FIRST Robotics Orange County and the San Francisco Regional competition. She has also been recognized for her astronomy research through Mauna Kea Scholars. She is ranked 1/272 at Kealakehe High School with a 4.085 GPA. 

 

In 2022 Sherry was selected to travel with PAAC x Punahou School to attend the inaugural Villars Institute Youth Symposium for a Net-Zero Future in Switzerland.

 

Sherry notes, “This experience has had the most positive impact on my life. Not only was I able to meet

with a wide variety of global leaders in their respective careers, but I explored a wide range of

topics and solutions regarding global climate change and engaged with diverse perspectives on

global issues. It has provided me with countless connections and allowed me to explore new

unique opportunities, especially with PAAC!”

 

Sherry will pursue her international and diplomacy education through the U.S. Department of State’s CBYX Scholarship Program in Germany.  She plans to continue her college education in 2024-25.
