As our state continues to practice social distancing, PAAC is offering Hawai'i high school students a variety of opportunities to continue learning about critical global issues and developing 21st century skills- all online.
PAAC is partnering with Ceeds of Peace and HawaiiKidsCAN to offer a 7-month, virtual program for 30 Hawaii high school students interested in advocacy, taking action on issues in their community, and gaining a global perspective! This opportunity takes the place of PAAC’s Global Leadership Program for the 2020-2021 SY. Learn more about YAAH here. Application Deadline: September 7, 2020
PAAC developed free lesson plans on various global issues and their relevance to Hawaii. Each lesson relates to one or more of the 17 U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and includes a curated list of articles or videos, a short kahoot quiz to test comprehension, discussion questions, ideas for action, and more. These lessons were designed to be easily adaptable for PAAC club meetings or classroom situations. Access the SDG Curriculum Suite here.
Climate Action Simulations
PAAC can facilitate interactive simulations for your school, class, or PAAC club. We are currently offering two simulations, both focusing on climate change. These simulations help students to visualize and understand which actions have the most impact on climate change. Maximum 35 students per simulation. Learn more here.
Mini Global Vision Summits
PAAC aims to offer monthly virtual summits on various global issues and their impact in Hawaii. Mini-GVS will feature interactive simulations, guest speakers, and other activities. Details on upcoming summits to be shared throughout the year.
