PAAC Gala Fundraiser: A Global Affair 2023, Honoring General David Bramlett with the Paul S. Bachman Award

Join us for a night to remember as we honor General David Bramlett with the prestigious Paul S. Bachman Award for his distinguished contributions to improving relations between the United States and its neighbors in Asia and the Pacific.

 

A Global Affair continues to serve as PAAC’s largest fundraising effort which supports hundreds of keiki from throughout Hawaiʻi gain a better understanding of the world and their important role in it. Please join us by sponsoring a table at our gala or by purchasing individual tickets to the dinner to support all of the work that PAAC does throughout the year.

 

As we celebrate 69 years of bringing the world to Hawaiʻi, we will have unique and exclusive items in our silent auction, award winning local cuisine, hosted bar, and the company of some of the most prominent supporters of global education and international affairs throughout our islands.

We are excited to showcase three PAAC superstar students in a moderated student panel

Sabina Funasaki
Junior
Punahou School
Sabina Funasaki’s passion for sustainability has driven her work with PAAC. In 2022 she traveled with Punahou and PAAC to Geneva to attend the Villars Institute Symposium, a summit focused on systems change to accelerate the transition to a net zero economy. When she returned, Sabina co-founded a PAAC Club and was selected for the 2022-23 PAAC Global Leadership Program, where she studies systems change and the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. She is a is a longtime volunteer with EM Hawaii and is focusing her Eagle Scout project on cleaning the Ala Wai. She also enjoys paddling, acting, and practicing Mandarin, and is training for a marathon.
Jamir Ace Raquino

In 2022 Jamir Ace Raquino traveled to Geneva with Punahou and PAAC to attend the Villars Institute Symposium, where he recognized the deeply embedded systems at the root of climate change; “the one defining issue of the 21st century.” He is the president of his school PAAC Club and is a member of our 2022-23 Global Leadership Program, where he focuses on quality education for systems change. Jamir is passionate about the future of healthcare and can perform mind-boggling card tricks.
Eric Pōmaikaʻi Gee
Junior
Kealakehe High School
Eric Pōmaikaʻi Gee has been involved with PAAC since his freshman year. With an interest in creating inclusive leadership, he is the president of multiple school clubs, including PAAC, the Model U.N., the Modeling and Photography Club, and the Gender Sexuality Alliance. He is also active in musical theatre, Chinese lion dancing, and baseball, while working part-time as a catering assistant. He was recently appointed to the Hawaii State Youth Commission and the Hawaii County Youth Commission. Eric attended the Villars Institute Symposium in Geneva with Punahou and PAAC, and he was awarded the PAAC Eddie Tangen Award in 2022.
